Gratitude Practice 2015 Day #25: Over the River and Through the Woods....

Nothing says holidays more than a road trip to the family business for Thanksgiving. Yesterday, Burke and Sarah Kate and I jumped into our packed car and headed south to meet up with 100+ family members for a few days of food, family and frolic in the woods. I am grateful for a two day work week and paid time off. I am grateful for safe, clear and well known roads. I am grateful for James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel, and Ryan Adams remix of T-swifts 1989 album. I am grateful for Swedish fish, cheese crackers and cuties. I am grateful for a calm and happy baby who traveled like a champ. I am grateful for the beauty of southern Utah and specifically weird little towns like Tokerville and Nephi, Meadow and Scipio, Fillmore and our beloved Fredonia. I am grateful for amazing sunsets only made better by the great wide open desert sky. I am grateful for light dainty snow flurries that welcomed us to a warm lodge full of happy family and complete with a roaring fire. I am grateful for pulled pork sandwiches and homemade fries. I am grateful for the warm embrace of family we have not seen in years. And a huge tear filled hug from the birth mom of our sweet baby  girl who is spending the season baking cookies and flipping burgers for the family biz....and that is just day one. I am grateful to be apart of the Rich family and for these noisy, messy, love filled, diet coke fueled few days. If it sounds a little Norman Rockwell meets Dan in Real Life you are very close to a Jacob Lake Thanksgiving. Lots of people. Lots of food. Lots of love. Lots to be grateful for.
