Gratitude Practice 2020 Day 136: East High track and field and football field…Will I?....Oh, you better believe ”I will”...
Grateful my little family of three could unwind our day outside in such a beautiful, safe and surprisingly tranquil place. We drove to a few nearby parks as the girl needed to ride her bike and we needed to move our bodies but felt overwhelmed by the mass number of people happily recreating...as they should. We kept driving as we needed way more open space and way less people and way more quiet energy and I’m so grateful we stumbled upon this little hidden gem. We shared the full 100 yards + track and bleachers with a small handful of people and felt absolutely zero social suffocation….which was the goal. I’m not much of a sports fan...like really not at all...but I can appreciate a well designed piece of land and felt much gratitude for this public resources available within our community.
Grateful for what has to be a team of very passionate and wealthy East High supporters as this space is beautiful especially for a public high school. Must take a full army of booster parents and community members peddling wrapping paper and hustling funds to create such a place for these lucky high school students to gather.
Grateful for the Goldie Locks effect that made the weather not too hot and not too cold but juuuusssttttt right for a pleasant summer evening.
Grateful for the quiet solo time to log a few loops around the track uninterrupted while Burke and SK climbed the bleachers. Always grateful to capture some solo time to let the thoughts and feelings of the day simmer....because there are lots of thoughts and feelings these days.
Grateful for the speed our girl is gaining on her Frozen 2 bike as she raced around the track burning up the endless “I’m five now...did you know that it was my birthday?...I used to be four but now I’m five….did you know I’m five now?” energy.
Grateful for stunning mountain ranges, inspiring sunsets, big bright trees, billowy clouds and whatever science goes into to creating artificial turf....its like plastic carpet with tiny shredded tire bits sprinkled inside....its soft with just enough squish to keep it interesting...I don't get organized sports like at all...but this turf....the turf kind of blows my mind.
Grateful for the not so subtle positive marketing and branding of the East High leopards sports program…”I will”...nice job marketing time...you’ve motivated a cubby middle aged woman to keep truckin’ forward….well played....
Grateful to have found this hidden gem and we will be returning again in the future.
