Gratitude Practice 2020 Day 139: Quick Road Trips and Family
Grateful for a quick 36 hour road trip to beautiful Southern Utah to love on family and seize some soul saving sunshine.
Grateful for the rugged beauty of our fair state...the moody sky, the amber waves, the complicated mountain ranges. The wide open spaces. The barns and ranches and trees and meadows that hug the interstate like your favorite relative. And it's the miles and miles of sagebrush and red rocks that seem nothing short of foundational.
Grateful for podcasts and playlists and sunglasses and Twizzler Nibs...always Nibs unless its Red Vines...but never normal Twizzlers because...blech...and trail mix because we are classy like that.
Grateful for the very strange and totally unspoken familiarity you can have with a group of fellow road trippers as you find yourself meeting up at each rest stop along the way. Seemed like we were pacing a few seperate groups of people from Draper to Cedar and each time we would awkwardly smile at each other in the gas station foyer and potty line. Felt like our frequency indicated we should exchange more than mask hidden smile and a simple head nod….but we never did.
Grateful for bright sunny sky and ample time to soak in a quiet backyard pool with my favorite kid.
Grateful for modern medicine, talented medical teams, insurance....and...time.
Grateful for the chance to get out of town for a bit. Did not know how much my quarantined heart and mind needed a little careful and strategic liberation. May we be smart and methodical and cautious and informed and may we never underestimate the power of a change of scenery.
