Gratitude Practice 2020 Day 29: Best Snow Day Ever
Our little community has received a massive amount of snow in the last 24 hours... enough to warrant school districts, governments and many local business far and wide to close down completely. It requires a whole lotta white stuff to shut this city down and today as been a bit unprecedented. Like many, my Monday, originally full of meetings and projects, quickly took a much different direction and I've never been happier.
After it was officially declared a snow day, Sarah Kate and I hunkered down in my warm bed and enjoyed the 1972 classic, The Snowball Express, which proved to be a great choice (God bless Disney+). Then waffles and berries followed by hours and hours of painting and drawing and glueing and cutting and we even broke our the glitter... because desperate times call for desperate measures...all created thanks to the groove of a constant playlist of favorites. Then lunch. More drawing and painting and glueing and then a memorized four year old experiencing Annie for the very first time. She was completely captivated and has been singing in the songs all afternoon. Then a batch of chocolate chip cookies... because baking is required on snow days, a few batches of laundry and dishes and a completed set of preschool Valentine treats ready to be gifted to classmates next week. Then a surprising full hour of imaginary play with several cans of soup from the pantry. Followed by Ellen, the bestie cousin, who joined us for a playdate and we courageous braved the elements in head to toe in winter gear for exactly seven total minutes of wintery fun. Then hours of little girl laughter and silliness and overall bff antics. And now that it's 8:00pm we begin our normal pre-bed time routine.
Today, I am grateful for all of it...from the unexpected bonus day off to the full day of Sarah Kate magic. Grateful from start to finish.
