Gratitude Practice 2021 Day 360: The Tiny Stuff That Makes Up the Big Stuff

Grateful for my Grandmother's blue ceramic pot and the new hearty green friend that has made it a home. I love this pot...I love the color, the shape and the size. This pot sat in her kitchen for most of my childhood and it holds lots of simple happy childhood memories and now a new floppy fern. Long may she bloom.

Grateful for two little white unicorn shoes that travel all through our home and neighborhood and city carefully carrying my little girl forward...and onward....because this is how she was born to travel and every kid on the planet deserves a pair of unicorn shoes.

Grateful for a fresh Valentines Day Pink at home manicure. Is there anything better than fresh nails? Such a small and silly indulgence that makes me so ridiculously happy and content that it's a little embarrassing.

Grateful for a front porch love ambush of Dunford Chocolate Chocolate doughnuts and an oversized Valentines Day card. Never a better way to show up and show love than in chocolate doughnut form and campy heart themed stationary. Grateful to be loved and to love others.

Grateful for the endless Bernie Sander memes. I mean...these are such a gift from the universe after such an incredibly crap-tastic year of politics. Each meme I stumble upon makes me laugh and smile and snitcher and grin and I could not be more grateful for those mittens, for that grumpy curmudgeon old man "just stop wasting my precious time, already" look, that totally practical puffy coat and that mysterious manilla envelope. I love it all. While I was watching the inauguration and Bernie appeared dressed like the average American in a sea of political polish...man, I giggled because he does not care one bit about fashion and never will and that is why people love him...little did I know that his stubborn practicality would become such a gift that I would be enjoy for weeks to come. God bless good old Bernie!

Grateful for the endlessly creative options that a simple box of crayons can provide. “Mom, we can only choose the pretty colors...because Valentines are all about love. And love must be pretty, right?”

Grateful for my friend and colleague, Stephanie. She is kind, competent, caring, endlessly resourceful, and good to the absolute core.

Grateful that my kid loves art and painting as much or more than I do. Watching her confidently explore and create no matter the medium is perhaps one of the best parts of life. Her concentration is inspiring and I love listening to her talk about each step and each new skill and how they build upon each other. This process is absolutely soul healing magic.
