Gratitude Practice 2020 Day 64: Learning How to Stretch
Tonight, I'm grateful for the opportunity to be stretched...I think...
As directed, after I boarded the airplane this afternoon, I placed my phone on airplane mode, grabbed a magazine, fastened my seatbelt and happily flew across the entire country as planned. Once we hit the tarmac, approximately 32 states and 2076 miles from home, and like everyone else on the plane, I turned my phone back on to find an email stating that the conference I've been planning and prepping for for the last several months had been canceled. Thank you Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). It appears the hotel and convention center hosting the conference is now a hot zone of super germs and they are no longer confident in their ability to secure a safe and healthy space for a few thousand educators. Super yeah!
Grateful for a the kindness of strangers. Grateful that Delta is waving change flight fees because these germs are wreaking havoc all over the planet...you only have to wait on hold for lots and lots and lots and lots of minutes. Grateful to attend part one of the intended meetings across town from the conference center hot zone in a less germy (I hope) hotel. Grateful for the careful prep and planning for a presentation that will now be taught virtually sometime next week. Grateful for the wise decisions and forethought of the conference planners knowing this was not an easy or inexpensive decision. Getting closer to grateful for this opportunity to be stretched and considering it nothing short of a drill...an exercise...a practice round...and is absolutely a hearty example of it's better to be safe than sorry...well played COVID-19...well played indeed...
